Life Technologies Files Suit Against Bio-Rad
Bio-Rad has not yet filed an answer with the court. In 2007, Invitrogen and Bio-Rad settled an patent infringement suit brought by Invitrogen related to PCR (see IBO 9/30/07).
Wilmington, DE 8/13/09—Life Technologies has filed a patent infringement action against Bio-Rad Laboratories in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. The law suit alleges infringement of four patents: US Patent Nos. 6,703,484; 7,223,566; 7,259,242 (each entitled “Methods for Production of Proteins”); and 7,265,206 (entitled “Methods of Production of Proteins”). The complaint alleges infringement by various products in Bio-Rad’s line of Precision Plus Protein prestained standards for electrophoresis and blotting. Life Technologies seeks damages for infringement and a permanent injunction. Neither company issued statements.
