Life Technologies Forms Diagnostic Joint Venture in China
Life Technologies stated that its Applied Biosystems business previously worked with DaAn Diagnostics to commercialize its PCR products for molecular diagnostics in China. The 3500 Dx capillary electrophoresis DNA sequencer received approval for in vitro diagnostic use in China in October 2011 (see IBO 12/31/11).
Carlsbad, CA 1/16/12—Life Technologies has agreed with DaAn Gene to form Life Technologies DaAn Diagnostics, a joint venture diagnostic business in China. DaAn Gene is a Chinese molecular in vitro diagnostic solutions provider. The joint venture will develop and commercialize molecular diagnostic assays using Life Technologies’ 3500 Dx capillary electrophoresis system and Big Dye Cycle Sequencing technology for oncology, infectious and genetic diseases. “This joint venture strengthens the foundation of our clinical diagnostics business and represents a big leap forward for our business in China,” commented Life Technologies Chairman and CEO Gregory Lucier.
