According to Phase Forward, the purchase allows it to offer end-to-end solutions, which differentiates its products. Phase Forward noted particular interest in the Waban SCE (Secure Computing Environment) for Clinical Biostatistics. The Waban LIMS supports clinical and preclinical research.
Waltham, MA 4/22/09—Phase Forward, a supplier of clinical trials software, has acquired Waban Software for $14 million in cash. Waban’s products include clinical data analysis systems, as well as lab information and clinical specimen management systems. In 2008, Waban had $4 million in revenues and break even operating income. Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with operations in Mumbai, India, Waban has 81 employees. Waban will operate as Waban Software Group within Phase Forward, with Waban President Himanshu Oberoi, PhD, serving as vice president.
