Under a resale agreement announced in June, LEAP Technologies will be able to incorporate PerkinElmer’s UHPLC and HPLC technology into front-end automation systems for MS within the US and Canada.

In July, Eksigent Technologies announced plans to increase its manufacturing capacity by 40%.

In August, W. R. Grace & Co.’s Grace Davis Discovery Sciences business opened a facility in Rowville, Australia, which consolidates customer service and warehousing functions for customers in Australia, New Zealand and surrounding Pacific Islands.

Product Introductions

Biotage AB introduced the SNAP HP-SIL high-performance flash purification cartridges, which employ 30 µm silica with pressure stability of 100 psi.

Varian launched the ProSEC 300S size exclusion chromatography (SEC) column for the analysis of globular proteins.

GE Healthcare released the ÄKTAmicro LC system, designed for small sample volumes and concentrations, featuring a Microfraction Collection Kit, and application flexibility for reversed phase and ion exchange chromatography techniques as well as SEC.

GE Healthcare introduced the HiTrap Con A 4B columns for the separation and purification of glycoproteins, polysaccharides and glycolipids.

In September, GE Healthcare introduced the ÄKTA avant HPLC for fast, scalable protein separations in process development.

Agilent’s OpenLAB Enterprise Content Management system now supports the archiving of data generated by Dionex’s Chromeleon 6.8 chromatography data system.

In June, Tosoh Bioscience added the amino-based NH2-100 columns, packed with 3 µm silica parties with 100 Å pores, to its line of TSK-GEL Amide-80 HILIC columns that are available in the Americas.

Gilson launched the Fraction Trapping Liquid Chromatography System for processing fractions up to 25 mL volume and samples masses up to 500 mg that have been purified on virtually any preparative HPLC system. It features fast dry-down times and column-switching ability.

Merck KGaA released Eshmuno S chromatography resin for the capture step and intermediate purification of monoclonal antibodies and biomolecules.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Accela 600 HPLC and Accela 1000 U-HPLC. The Accela 1000 features a quaternary solvent delivery system and optimized gradient accuracy. The company also introduced the Accela PDA detector with an acquisition rate of up to 80 Hz.

In August, Phenomenex launched the Kinetex ultra-HPLC columns based on its new core-shell silica technology, available in 2.6 and 1.7 µm particle sizes and three chemistries (C18, PFP and HILIC).
