In September, JSR made an investment in Natrix Separations and agreed to distribute Natrix’s HD Membrane Technology and Advective Chromatography products.

Product Introductions

In June, Waters launched CORTECS Columns, a new family of 1.6 µm solid core UltraPerformance LC columns for higher efficiency, available in C18, C18+ and HILIC chemistries and offered in 30 column configurations.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Thermo Scientific Dionex Corona Veo, a charged aerosol detector (CAD) designed to make CAD accessible with UHPLC.

GE Healthcare released in June the Superdex 200 Increase size exclusion chromatography (SEC) columns for preparative and analytical separations. They are optimized for monoclonal antibody separation and available in three sizes (10/300 GL, 5/150 GL and 3.2/300 GL).

Roche introduced the cOmplete His-Tag Purification Column for performing histidine-tagged protein purification from lysates. It does not require buffer exchange or resin recharging and is available in 1 mL and 5 mL sizes.

In June, PerkinElmer launched the Flexar PDA (photo diode array) Plus detector, featuring a wavelength range of 190–790 nm and data-acquisition rate of 0.5–200 Hz.

Cecil Instruments introduced the low cost Merit HPLC systems. System choices include a CE 4403 UV/Vis detector, DAD WaveQuest detector, isocratic CE 4401 pump, CE 4402 binary pump and column heater/chiller.

In July, DataApex released Clarity Chromatography Software 5.0, which is available in new languages and features a mass spectra data processing module.

Malvern Instruments launched the Viscotek SEC-MALS 20 gel permeation chromatography/SEC light scattering detector for measurement of absolute molecular weight. It features 20 measurement angles and can be used to measure molecular size expressed as the radius of gyration.

In September, Shimadzu released the LabSolutions CS chromatography data system, which can control Agilent 1100, 1200, 1260 and 1290 HPLC systems.

Metrohm launched the 930 Compact IC Flex ion chromatograph (IC) for routine analysis, featuring various modular options, including inline preparation of eluents, and a three-year instrument warranty.

Metrohm introduced in September the high performance 940 Professional IC Vario, which is entirely modular and has a three-year instrument warranty.

Hitachi High-Technologies launched the ChromasterUltra Rs, which has a pressure tolerance of 140 MPa and is designed for use with the new LaChromUltra II ODS C18 columns (1.9 µm particle diameter and 250 mm length). The company’s sales-volume target is 300 units annually.
