AB SCIEX completed the transfer of the manufacturing of Eksigent chromatography products from the US to Singapore last fall.

In December 2013, Therapure Biopharma agreed to acquire Upfront Chromatography’s assets and business related to human plasma fractionation and will market the technology under the new trademark PlasmaCap EBA.

Chiral Technologies appointed SMS a distributor for Uruguay and Paraguay.

Product Introductions

In December 2013, Agilent Technologies released the third version of its Intelligent System Emulation Technology for the 1290 Infinity Binary LC and 1290 Infinity Quaternary LC systems, which allows emulation of the Waters ACQUITY UPLC and H-Class systems and the Shimadzu Prominence HPLC system.

Agilent Technologies introduced in February the 1260 Infinity Multi-Detector Bio-SEC (size exclusion chromatography) system, featuring light scattering detection capabilities and bio-inert instrumentation.

Field Forensics launched in December 2013 the microTLC (thin layer chromatography) system, a fast and portable solution for the separation and identification of drugs and explosives mixtures. It features one TLC plate and a colorimetric identification scheme. Its price is less than $5,000.

Thermo Fisher Scientific released the Acclaim Trinity P2 columns, featuring advanced mixed-mode Nanopolymer Silica Hybrid technology.

In February, Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Thermo Scientific GlycanPac AXR-1 column for glycan analysis.

In January, Tosoh Bioscience introduced the third generation High Temperature EcoSEC system, with a temperature range of 40°–220° C.

In February, Fortis Technologies released the 2.6 µm core-shell Speedcore columns, available in four phase chemistries.

MIP Technologies, a Biotage company, launched in January a new range of RENSA polymeric separation resins for industrial use.

Restek added the ARC-18 phase to its line of the core-shell Raptor SPP columns for use with LC/MS/MS.

Chiral Technologies introduced CHIRALFLASH columns, its first medium pressure LC columns.

Phenomenex expanded its Kinetex core-shell column line with the addition of a Biphenyl phase, available in 2.6 µm and 5 µm particle sizes with a 1.7 µm option to be introduced in the future.

Diamond Analytics introduced the diamond-based core-shell FLARE columns, available in C18 Mixed Mode C18+ and HILIC-based chemistries. They feature a pH range of 1–13 and capabilities up to 100° C.
