In December 2015, Novasep opened an office in Bangkok, Thailand.

In February, ChromaCon acquired an exclusive license to Synthetic Fermentation Technology from Professor Jeffrey Bode and colleagues at ETH-Zürich and Nagoya University for generating highly stable affinity binders as reagents and for other diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

Product Introductions

Biotage introduced the SNAP ULTRA C18 range of reversed-phase flash-purification cartridges and samplets, packed with new HP-Sphere C18 25 µm spherical silica particles.

Bio-Rad Laboratories released in November 2015 the NGC Medium-Pressure Chromatography Systems, and NGC Discover and NGC Discover Pro Systems, available with 10 mL/min. or 100 mL/min. pump modules for flow rates up to 200 mL/min., with use of a mixer module. The Discovery Systems can run up to 15 columns sequentially.

Agilent Technologies introduced the AdvanceBio RP-mAb reversed-phase column with a 450 Å pore size, optimized to separate monoclonal antibodies.

DataApex released control drivers for Hitachi Chromaster and Primaide HPLC systems, which enable both direct instrument control and digital data acquisition.

In January, Phenomenex introduced the Kinetex F5 PFP core-share phase for improved reproducibility and reduction in method-development time, available in 2.6 µm and 1.7 µm particle sizes.

ChromaCon launched the Contichrom CUBE preparative medium-pressure LC system, a modular system designed for batch, cyclic and continuous processes. It can run both single- and twin-column operations.

3M Purification launched the Emphaze AES Hybrid Purifier, the first in a series of single-use chromatography products. An all-synthetic clarifying product line, it contains both a novel anion-exchange nonwoven media and a fine-particle, bioburden-reduction membrane. The company also released two new Production Capsules for the AEX Hybrid Purifier family.

Regis Technologies introduced small particle sizes for its family of chiral columns, with ID sizing of 2.1–4.6 mm and lengths of 2–25 cm.

In February, Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Thermo Scientific MAbPac HIC-20 and MAbPac HIC-Butyl columns for monoclonal-antibody analysis.

In March, AkzoNobel Separation Products introduced the Kromasil SFC slurry-packed family of columns, based on 2.5 µm particle-size technology and available in diol, silica, cyano and 2-ethylpyridine phases. They are designed for use as analytical and semiprep columns in UHPLC, HPLC, SFC and simulated moving bed applications for bulk pilot and full-scale production.
