Malvern Instruments acquired Sysmex’s industrial particle measurement business in October 2010.

Particulate Systems, a Micromeritics brand, announced in December 2010 an exclusive agreement to distribute Material Flow Equipment’s SPECTester material segregation tester.

Under a collaboration agreement, Beckman Coulter Particle Characterization will refer customers to ImmunoSite Technologies for particle characterization services, and ImmunoSite will perform those services utilizing Beckman Coulter instrumentation.

Particle Sciences, a provider of drug development services, formed a strategic alliance with HORIBA Instruments, HORIBA’s US sales and marketing division, in February. A full range of HORIBA characterization tools will be available at Particle Sciences.

Product Introductions

Innovatest launched the Nemesis 900 Series multipurpose hardness-testing instruments, featuring a load-cell, closed-loop, force feedback system.

CANNON Instrument Company introduced the miniPV-HX fully automatic polymer solution viscometer.

Thermo Fisher Scientific launched a new line of Thermo Scientific HAAKE viscometers: the Viscotester E for automatic flow-curve measurements, the Viscotester D for routine viscosity measurements with data transfer, and the Viscotester C for fast manual viscosity measurements.

Anton Paar introduced a new range of Abbemat refractometers: the Performance line, consisting of the Abbemat 300 and 500, for routine analyses and quality control; the Performance Plus line, consisting of the Abbemat 350 and 550, for R&D and advanced quality control; and the Heavy Duty line, consisting of the Abbemat HP, WR, MW and HT, for work in harsh environments and for special applications.

Lloyds Instruments, a unit of AMETEK Measurement & Calibration Technologies, released a new single-column materials-testing machine for all materials-testing applications under 1 kN force.

LEMIS Instruments introduced the ViscoDens VDM-300 THERMO kinematic viscometer, featuring a precision-calibrated vibrating-element process density and viscosity transmitter with an integral temperature sensor.

Micromeritics introduced the ASAP 2020 HD Accelerated Surface Area and Porosimetry System, which includes a new low-pressure capability.

NanoSight added zeta potential measurement capability to its NanoSight NS500 instrument with the ZetaSight module, which incorporates a customized Zeta Potential sample chamber and integrated electronics.

Brightwell introduced the MFI (Micro-Flow Imaging) 5000 series of flow microscopes, featuring new automation capabilities.
