Company Announcements

In October, MTS Systems named Dr. Arthur R. Baker senior vice president and chief technology officer. He was previously general manager of the Test Division.

CSC Scientific added the Fungilab Master Series Rotational Viscometer to its product line.

Beckman Coulter Life Science announced in October the combination of its Particle Characterization business with Hach’s Particle Counting business.

Product Introductions

Shimadzu introduced in July the Aggregates Sizer Aggregation Analysis System for Biopharmaceuticals for quantitative, high speed evaluation of 100 nm to 10 µm sub-visible particle aggregates. Especially suited for quality control applications, it measures particles sizes from 7 nm to 800 µm as part of a particle size distribution.

RheoSense added intrinsic viscosity measurement capabilities to its m-VROC viscometer.

Anton Paar released in July the Modulyzer for Petro for the measurement of highly viscous petrochemical samples at temperatures up to 80° C. It combines the DMA 4100/4500 M density meter or a DMA 500 M, an Abbemat-HP/WR refractometer and an Xsample heated sample changer.

Quantachrome Instruments introduced the Autosorb 6 iSA surface area and pore size analyzer. It allows for up to six samples to run concurrently and independently. Updated software provides CFR 21 Part 11 compliance.

Malvern Instruments launched in July the Viscosizer 200 for biopharmaceutical development. It delivers viscosity and molecular size data on UV-active samples, using volumes of less than 10 µL. It measures viscosity of 0.9–120 cP and hydrodynamic radius of 0.2–100 nm.

In August, NETZSCH Instruments North America introduced the Accelerating Rate Calorimeter 254, which simultaneously measures temperature and pressure, and has a tracking rate up to 200 K/min.

Bose ElectroForce Systems introduced the 3200 Series III family of test instruments, which delivers fatigue testing response up to 300 Hz and dynamic mechanical analysis up to 200 Hz.

In September, Spectro released the portable SpectroVisc Q3050 model, featuring a measurement range of 1–680 cSt at 40° C.

Spectro launched the portable Q5800 fluid analysis system for performing abnormal wear metals analysis, particle counting, viscosity, and lubricant condition and contamination tests.

A&D introduced the RV-10000 tuning fork vibro rheometer, which enables measurements of the viscosity of non-Newtonian fluids and provides simultaneous measurements of temperature.

In October, MTS Systems released the Echo Software 2.0, with the ability to remotely monitor lab equipment.
