Company Announcements

In June, FRITSCH announced the opening of its first US subsidiary, FRITSCH Milling and Sizing, in North Carolina.

Micromeritics announced in June the opening of a new laboratory in Dailan, China, in collaboration with chemical firm China Catalyst.

In June, Verder Scientific announced a joint venture with Monitoring & Control Laboratories to form Verder South Africa, which will represent Verder’s Retsch, Retsch Technology, Carbolite Gero and Eltra brands in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Monitoring & Control represented the Retsch brand for 22 years in Southern Africa.

In July, PAC announced the acquisition of Phase Technology, a Canadian provider of cold flow testing instruments. It becomes part of PAC’s Physical Properties Segment.

LUM opened a Japanese subsidiary in May. A combined 20% stake in the subsidiary is held by management at Takeda Colloid Techno-Consulting and MS Scientific.

In July, MTS Systems established an Indian headquarters in Bengaluru.

 

Product Introductions

In May, SETARAM launched the THEMYS modular thermogravimetric analyzer, available in various platforms: standard ThermoGravimetric Analysis (TGA), high-pressure TGA, simultaneous Thermal Analysis (TA) TG/Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and differential TA/DSC and evolved gas analysis. It features operating temperatures up to 1750˚C at atmospheric conditions or under vacuum, or up to 1200˚C under pressures as high as 150 bar.

Quantachrome introduced in June the AutoFlow BET+, a fully automated surface-area analyzer. It features single-point and multiple-point determination of surface area, and consists of one control module and 1-3 independent analysis stations.

In June, PAC ISL unveiled the next generation of its Cold Filter Plugging Point analyzer model to its Opti-Cold Series platform. It features improved usability, including cable-free and tube-free smart heads to easier set-up and breakdown.

In July, PAC launched the Cleveland Open Cup, the last analyzer of its OptiFlash line, for Herzog flash point measurement. It features an automatic lift arm and automatic damper.
