Avantes expanded its UK operations in January, opening an office in Leatherhead, Surrey.
In January, FOSS opened a subsidiary in Central America, based in Mexico City, Mexico, bringing the number of FOSS subsidiaries to 27. It was created through the integration of former distributor Operadora ETESA.
Product Introductions
Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Thermo Scientific µDrop Plate for the measurement of up to 16 samples down to 2 µL. It is designed for use with the Multiskan GO UV-Vis spectrophotometers.
GE Healthcare launched the Ultrospec series of dual-beam, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, consisting of three models.
Hamamatsu Photonics announced that it will introduce an instrument for terahertz attenuated total reflection spectroscopy in April.
B&W Tek and Gnosys Global introduced in December 2011 the PolymerIQ, which utilizes their respective portable Raman spectrometer and chemometric software, for the quantification of polymers during routine inspection. B&W Tek retains the exclusive distribution rights to the software when used with Raman spectroscopy.
In January, B&W Tek launched the BAC200, calling it the first fiber optic Raman probe capable of delivering the performance of a larger Raman probe in a diameter of less than 4 mm. Alignment is permanently fixed.
B&W Tek released BWSpec 4.0 spectral data acquisition software, featuring a new spectral management system.
Renishaw introduced an integrated Raman atomic force microscopy (AFM) package, consisting of its inVia Reflex Raman spectrometer coupled to Bruker’s Innova AFM via an opto-mechanical interface.
CRAIC Technologies launched the CRAIC MP-2 microscope photometer for analyzing microscopic samples by reflectance or transmittance photometry in addition to measuring emitted light.
In January, CRAIC Technologies introduced the addition of kinetic spectroscopy capabilities to its 20/20 Perfect Vision UV-Vis-NIR microspectrophotometer.
ASD released the TerraSpec 4 line of portable mineral analyzers. The Hi-Res and Standard-Res models feature 6 nm and 10 nm resolution, respectively.
Implen launched the NanoPhotometer P-Class, which is its third-generation line of micro-volume spectrophotometers. The All-in-One model includes 0.3 µL analysis, cuvette capability and built-in vortexer.
Cobalt introduced the RapID system, based on spatially offset Raman spectroscopy, for verifying pharmaceutical materials through common packaging.
P&P Optica released the Iris suite of spectroscopy data analysis software.
