Company Announcements

In May, 6SensorLabs, a company providing gluten testing systems to the consumer market, announced it raised $9.2 million in Series A funding, led by Foundry Group. It will operate under the Nima brand. In total, the company has raised $14 million.

In June, Endress+Hauser announced a $8.6 million development of Kaiser Optical Systems’ Ann Arbor, Michigan, location, which will more than double in size. Kaiser Optical has over one hundred employees.

In July, Edinburgh Instruments, a Techcomp company, appointed company veteran Dr. Roger Fenske as CEO.

Atonarp, developer of the miniaturized Smart Spectrometers, raised up to $16 million in capital led by Japan’s Innovative Network.

In August, Eurofins QTA (Quality Trait Analysis) announced it will provide installation, application support, calibration development and maintenance services for Q-Interline’s FT-IR and FT-NIR technology in North America.

PerkinElmer announced in its second quarter SEC filing that it purchased Delta Instruments (see IBO 2/29/16) for $8.8 million.

Product Introductions

WITec announced in April that its RISE microscopy mode for correlative Raman-SEM imaging is now compatible with the ZEISS MERLIN SEM.

Konica Minolta launched in April the LumiCol 1900 Series, which combines color measurement technology and 2-D camera calibration technology.

In May, FOSS introduced the DairyScan NIR system for testing the fat and moisture content of cheese during production and at final product release.

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments released in June the LabSolutions IR thermal-damaged plastics library, which contains IR spectra data for 13 types of plastic.

HORIBA introduced the PTI QuantaMaster 8000 spectrofluorometer for steady state and lifetime measurements, featuring a single-to-noise ratio of 30,000:1 rms for water Raman.

Bruker launched the B.I.-LISA (Bruker IVDr LIpoprotein Subclass Analysis) lipoprotein subclass module for its 600 MHz NMR. Designed for cardiovascular disease research, it determines cholesterol, free cholesterol, phospholipids, triglycerides, apolipoproteins A1, A2, B, and particles numbers for plasma and serum lipoprotein main and subclasses.

HORIBA Scientific introduced new silver-coated AFM-TERS probes for its NanoRaman Systems.

In August, Jenway released the 7200 Vis scanning spectrophotometer, with no moving parts.

Nanophoton launched the RAMANdrive wafer analyzer for semiconductor applications, featuring 3-D Raman imaging capabilities.
