In July, SciAps announced the completion of an additional $2.3 million round of financing.

Avacta expanded its commercial collaboration with Pall Life Sciences’ ForteBio division for the sale of the Optim in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

In August, Headwall Photonics named Bonsai Advanced Technologies its distributor for France and Switzerland.

In September, Edinburgh Instruments, a Techcomp company, named Mark Vosloo CEO. He was previously with Oxford Instruments.

Product Introductions

Hitachi High-Technologies released in June the UH5300 Double Beam Spectrophotometer, featuring 1 nm resolution and wireless communication.

Advantest released a terahertz wave spectroscopy platform that breaks out the terahertz source and detector into modules connected by optical fiber cables to the mainframe.

JASCO launched in June the J-1100 and J-1500 Circular Dichroism (CD) Spectrometers, which allow for the simultaneous acquisition of up to four data channels including CD, absorbance, linear dichroism (LD) and fluorescence.

Hach introduced in June the DR 900 Handheld Colorimeter, with improved user interface and menu selections.

Analyze IQ released in July the SmartSearch software for searching a library of spectra.

SciAps introduced the Inspector Scope, which integrates a handheld Raman analyzer with a microscope and XYZ stage to create a system for use in the lab or field.

In August, Shimadzu introduced the IRTracer-100 FT-IR spectrophotometer, featuring a 60,000 to 1 signal-to-noise ratio and a 20 spectra/second scan function.

Bio-Rad Laboratories released the KnowItAll Informatics System 2013 spectroscopy software, featuring enhanced Raman spectrum management.

In September, HORIBA Scientific introduced the MicOS microspectrometer, which combines a microscope head directly coupled to a triple grating imaging spectrometer, and a research-grade scientific camera, allowing it to cover the UV-Vis and NIR spectral range.

Spectral Evolution launched the oreXpress field portable spectrometer.
