Coherent entered into an exclusive agreement with PhaseTech Spectroscopy to offer the 2DQuick, a complete solution for 2D IR spectroscopy for investigating molecular dynamics.

Following ASD’s acquisition by Spectris (see IBO 11/30/12), Bob Faus, vice president of engineering, was named vice president and general manager, NIR, and Michael Lands, vice president of sales and marketing, was named vice president, sales and marketing, NIR. CEO David Rzasa stepped down from his position.

FOSS’s 2012 revenues grew 8.9% to DKK 1,739 million ($300 million) (see IBO 4/15/13). The company sales force in Brazil, Russia, India, China and the US increased 25%–30%.

According to a March SEC filing, Spectra Analysis Instruments raised $1.3 million in an equity offering.

In April, Renishaw named John Jeans, chairman of the Council of Cardiff University and Imanova, to its Board.

Product Introductions

Bruker introduced in January a transmission version of its TANGO FT-NIR spectrometer, which is priced at about $50,000–$55,000.

Edinburgh Photonics introduced a combined microscope and imaging camera for its FLS980 and FLS920 ranges of photoluminescence spectrometers. Cameras are available for both visible and NIR regions up to 1700 nm.

Picarro launched in March the Picarro Surveyor for natural gas emissions, which provides a real-time graphical format on a mobile tablet or other web-enabled device.

Eppendorf released the BioPhotometer D30 for fluorescence detection, featuring the µCuvette G1.0 micro-cuvette with magnetic lock for 1 µL sample volumes. Measurement is completed in two seconds.

Wilks Enterprise introduced the InfraCal 2 mid-IR portable filter spectrometer, featuring improved electronics and a new touch screen. It is priced at around $8,500.

Rigaku Raman Technologies upgraded its FirstGuard handheld Raman analyzer to feature a bar code reader and updated data reporting and archiving management.

StellarNet released a series of portable Raman spectrometers that utilize InGaAs detectors to capture NIR spectra induced by 1064 nm lasers.

StellarNet launched the SILVER-Nova range of thermoelectric-cooled spectrometers for applications in the 190–1110 nm wavelength range.

HORIBA introduced the new, cost effective XplorRA ONE Raman microscope in March. It emphasizes ease of use and features LabSpec 6 software.

CRAIC Technologies introduced the 20/30 PV microspectrophotometer, which integrates a spectrophotometer with a UV-Vis-NIR range microscope and features an extended spectral range and new software.
