Protein Metrics exclusively licensed Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s lipid-analysis software.

Waters welcomed in October 2014 Colorado State University at Fort Collins’ Proteomics and Metabolomics Facility into its Center of Innovation Program. The facility applies nontargeted proteomics and metabolomics using LC/MS to advance food and veterinary science, and clinical and microbacterial research.

Advion announced in December 2014 that its TriVesa NanoMate with liquid-extraction surface-analysis capability will be evaluated for real-time surgical guidance as part of a study at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Product Introductions

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced in October 2014 the Thermo Scientific Q Exactive Focus LC-MS/MS, which is designed to make the qualitative and quantitative power of Orbitrap-based instruments available to customers who use Q-TOF MS or other technologies. It is designed to deliver up to 70,000 resolution at m/z 200 and scan speed up to 12 Hz.

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments released the Open Solution QuantAnalytics software package for the pain-management and clinical markets.

Biognosys announced in October 2014 that its Spectronaut software for analysis of hyper reaction monitoring now supports spectral-library generation from the Thermo Scientific Proteome Discoverer platform.

In November 2014, Bruker launched the maXis II UHR-qTOF MS, which allows for the simultaneous analysis of small molecules and megadalton proteins on one analytical platform.

AB SCIEX released the DiscoveryQuant 3.0 ADME software, which reduces LC/MS method-development time.

In January, Waters launched the GlycoWorks RapiFluor-MS N-Glycan Kit for N-glycan profile monitoring, part of a new workflow that includes the ACQUITY UPLC H-Class and the QDa Detector. Waters also introduced the RapiFluor-DS Dextran Calibration Ladder and Glycan Performance Test Standard, commercializing the glucose unit–based approach for dextran ladder–based retention-time normalization developed by Professor Pauline Rudd of the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training.
