Netzsch Acquires Bruker Business

For over a decade, Netzsch Analytical & Testing and Bruker Optics have together offered the TG plus FT-IR system, which combines thermogravimetry and FT-IR for materials characterization. Neither company responded to IBO’s request for comment. In its second-quarter conference call, Bruker had noted the possibility of small-scale divestments as part of a process improvement plan.

Yokohama, Japan 9/4/12—Netzsch Japan has acquired Bruker’s Thermal Analysis instrument business in Japan. Financial details were not disclosed. Netzsch Japan had distributed Bruker AXS’s Thermal Analysis instruments and Bruker had distributed Netzsch Thermal Analysis products in Japan. “We are convinced that having a large R&D and production site that understands the needs of the Japanese market is an excellent way to further develop our future business in Japan,” stated Netzsch Japan President Yoshio Shinoda. “With an additional 30 employees joining us from Bruker, Netzsch can now serve our Japanese customers even better, and we will further improve our outstanding reputation as the performance leader in Thermal Analysis instrumentation.”
