Company Announcements Bruker’s Advanced Supercon subsidiary hired Thomas M. Rosa, previously CFO at American Superconductor Corporation, as CFO in April. He will also lead newly established business development and customer support operations in the US. Cambridge Isotope Laboratories formed Membrane Receptor Technologies, a collaborative venture with NMR specialist Dr. Stanley Opella, which will provide atomic resolution information about the structure and drug interactions of GPCRs to biotech and pharmaceutical companies. In September, GE Healthcare and Varian announced a collaboration to develop a preclinical 7T magnetic resonance imaging system. Following development of the system, Varian will offer customers an integrated 7T system combining GE’s electronics, user interface, pulse-sequences and applications with Varian’s magnet, gradients, positioning devices and RF coils. Under an exclusive technical and commercial agreement, Oxford Instruments will offer Green Imaging Technologies’ rock core NMR software on its GeoSpec range of NMR instruments. Product Introductions Oxford Instruments Molecular Biotools launched PharmaSense, an integrated magnetic resonance imager and USP-4 compatible dissolution flow cell system for drug formulation applications. Bruker BioSpin introduced the HyperQuant benchtop NMR reader for quantifying both the magnetic hyperpolarization as well as the thermal polarization of a sample by applying time-domain NMR spectroscopy.
