SYGNIS announced in December 2015 a distribution agreement with Mayflower Bioscience for the US, and with PhileKorea, Pharma Tech Korea and Axil Scientific for South Korea and Singapore.
In December 2015, Transgenomic was awarded a two-year, $1.5 million Small Business Technology Transfer grant by the NIH to fund a project with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to augment the multiplexing capabilities of its ICE COLD-PCR technology.
In January, Douglas Scientific and TATAA Biocenter expanded their collaboration to now include high-throughput PCR services using Douglas’s IntelliQube system.
Product Introductions
Streck introduced last fall the Philisa Real-Time PCR System, a modular 20 minute system. It can run four different protocols simultaneously.
Analytik Jena launched the qTOWER3 real-time PCR thermal cycler, with a detection system that can be equipped with up to six different color modules.
Cole-Parmer released the StableTemp Thermal Cyclers, including personal/compact models and full-size models.
In October, Bio-Rad Laboratories introduced the One-Step RT-ddPCR Advanced Kit for Probes, combining reverse transcription and Droplet Digital PCR for absolute RNA quantification. It replaces the earlier single-step reaction kit with no increase in price.
In November 2015, 3M Food Safety released its next generation 3M Molecular Detection Assay 2 for Salmonella for its 3M Molecular Detection Instrument. The first generation assay is still available and can be run simultaneously with the next generation assay.
BioMérieux launched the GENE-UP system and assays for the detection of microorganisms for use in the control of food, raw materials and production environments in the agri-food sector. It features a simplified workflow and is an open platform. The menu currently includes Salmonella, E. coli O157:H7 and Listeria and will be expanded in coming months. The system can also be used with bioMérieux’s CEERAM product range. Currently available in the US, it will be introduced in Europe, Latin America and Asia in the first half of 2016.
Neogen released the isothermal amplification–based ANSR test for E. coli O157:H7, featuring a 10 minute reaction time following sample preparation.
InstantLabs introduced two additional Salmon ID tests for Chinook and Sockeye.
SYGNIS launched the SunScript One Step RT-qPCR Kit, the third kit in its SunScript product line.
In January, Canon BioMedical released 72 new assays to the Novallele genotyping library, including two novel assays that detect mutations in mitochondrial DNA.
