OriGene Acquires Marligen Biosciences

OriGene stated that the acquisition increases its critical mass. According to the Washington Business Journal, OriGene was a customer of Marligen and that Marligen CEO Sherry Challberg will not join OriGene.

Rockville, MD 10/19/09—Life science reagent supplier OriGene Technologies has acquired Marligen Biosciences for an undisclosed amount. OriGene is a provider of assays for the Luminex xMAP platform, as well as DNA and RNA purification kits. Maligen Bioscience provides assays for the study of gene regulation and genotyping, as well as plasmid purification kits and sample preparation products. OriGene stated that all of Marligen’s key talent would be retained.
