PerkinElmer Announces New Business Alignment

Regarding changes within the operating units, PerkinElmer told IBO, “it is important to note that PerkinElmer hopes to bring even greater collaboration with the realignment, and that while the operating units will report through either Human Health or Environmental Health, their solutions and technologies possess a fair amount of crossover throughout the company.”

Waltham, MA 11/10/08—PerkinElmer has announced that it will refocus its business into two areas, Human Health and Environmental Health, beginning January 1, 2009. The Human Health business will include the company’s Genetic Screening, Bio-discovery and Medical Imaging operating units and will be led on an interim basis by company President and CEO Robert Friel. The Environmental Health business will include the Analytical Sciences, Laboratory Services, and Detection and Illumination (formerly Sensors and Specialty Lighting) operating units and will be led by John Roush, who currently heads the Optoelectronics business. PerkinElmer has also begun a strategic review of a portion of its specialty lighting business that has revenue of approximately $90 million.
