Waltham, MA 1/9/17—PerkinElmer, a global leader for a heathier world, has agreed to acquire Tulip Diagnostics, an India-based provider of IVD reagents, kits and instruments for infectious disease prevention, screening and diagnostics. Financial details were not provided. With over 1,200 full-time employees, Tulip serves more than 30,000 customers. “We are committed to expanding our infectious disease screening menu and capabilities, and Tulip’s product portfolio, channel access and broad footprint provide the key enablers to help accelerate our growth in this important market,” stated Prahlad Singh, senior vice president and president, Diagnostics, PerkinElmer. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter.

Tulip has 30,000 customers and two manufacturing locations in India. PerkinElmer’s acquisition of a Chinese infectious disease testing company, Shanghai Haoyuan Biotech has been highly successful. This acquisition targets a similar emerging market, where diagnostic testing opportunities continue to grow.
