Perten Instruments Acquired
Perten provides laboratory and on-line molecular spectrometry–based systems for food and crop analysis. The company also offers rheometers, viscometers and moisture meters. Founded in 1962, Perten has offices in the US, China, Germany and Australia. Its products are sold in over 100 countries.
Stockholm, Sweden 9/24/10; Stockholm, Sweden 9/29/10—Valedo, a Swedish private equity fund, has acquired a majority stake in Perten Instruments AB for an undisclosed amount. Minority owners include Perten management, the Board and Jan Perten, former co-owner. Perten Instruments supplies instruments for analysis and quality control of food, grain, flour and feed, including NIR analyzers and lab mills. Perten Instruments has annual sales of more than SEK 250 million ($37 million = SEK 6.73 = $1) and 140 employees. Perten stated that growth will be driven by product and business development, as well as geographical expansion. “It is with comfort and with great assurance of a strong future that we now hand over to Valedo as new majority owner who, together with the management team, will drive an agenda with increased emphasis on and resources for growth,” stated John Dahlfors, chairman of Perten. Perten management and employees will remain the same.
