Phenomenex Acquires Wibby and Teams Up with Shimadzu
Phenomenex’s resources can be expected to drive growth at Wibby via distribution and R&D. The Shimadzu-Phenomenex partnership enables Shimadzu to directly offer columns. Shimadzu does not make its own line of chromatography columns. The partnership allows Phenomenex exposure to new end-users. The “welcome package” also includes technical notes.
Torrance, CA 2/22/11; Atlanta, GA 3/15/11—Chromatography aftermarket and sample preparation company Phenomenex announced that it acquired Wibby Environmental in January. Wibby Environmental is a provider of environmental standards. Founder Chuck Wibby remains with the 15-person company, according to Jason Campbell, senior marketing manager at Phenomenex. Phenomenex has also announced a co-marketing agreement with Shimadzu Scientific Instruments for the US. Purchasers of Shimadzu’s HPLC, UHPLC, LC/MS, GC and GC/MS analytical systems will receive a Phenomenex “welcome package” that includes a technical consultation to determine which complimentary columns would be most useful to them. “The total solutions program brings two leading companies together to serve the customer with top-of-the-line products that work together,” stated Phenomenex Vice President Doug McCrory.
