Phenomenex Establishes New Business
The new firm fits with Phenomenex’s LC and GC aftermarket business, which supplies environmental labs with media and columns. Phenomenex stated that it eventually plans to expand Phenova internationally. Earlier this year, Waters announced its formation of a business to sell lab standards and reagents based on its environmental standards business Environmental Resource Associates.
Torrance, CA 8/22/12—Phenomenex has formed Phenova, a new company that integrates and expands the Phenomenex’s purchase of Wibby Environmental (see IBO 3/15/11). Phenova supplies proficiency standards and testing services to environmental labs, including the PT Manage data-reporting tool. “The acquisition is part of our growth strategy, which centers on providing total solutions to the application areas we serve,” stated Phenomenex CEO Fasha Mahjoor. Phenomenex plans to triple Wibby’s Colorado lab space by building a 30,000-square-foot facility. Phenomenex has also nearly doubled Wibby’s staff since the acquisition process began last year.
