Takashi Nishijima, director and senior vice president of the Industrial Automation Platform Business, was named representative director and president of Yokogawa Electric, effective April 1.

SICK acquired in April Ação Solucão, its Brazilian distributor. Ação Solucão has more than 30 employees.

SICK’s 2012 revenues rose 7.6% to €971.3 million ($1,245 million) (see page 12). Process Automation sales grew 12.7% to €163.5 million ($209.6 million).

ATMI signed a distribution agreement with Finesse Solutions in April, allowing both firms to offer customer support for a single-use bioreactor system that couples ATMI’s Integrity PadReactor bioreactor and Finesse’s G3 series SmartControllers and TruBio 4.X DV software. Finesse will offer turnkey systems for upstream bioprocessing.

Endress+Hauser’s 2012 revenues grew 11% to almost €1.7 billion ($2.2 billion). Net income rose 3% to €183 million ($235 million). The company plans to grow sales 10% in 2014. Investments include a new production facility in Itatiba, Brazil.

Product Introductions

Hach introduced in February the Hach BioTector B3500c TOC Analyzer for condensate applications, featuring Two Stage Advanced Oxidation Technology and the ability to monitor two streams at the same time.

In April, Finesse Solutions launched a new SmartParts family of intelligent transmitters and actuators for bioreactors, which feature plug-and-play capability and the ability to control any size or type of upstream vessel.

Finesse Solutions released in June the next generation G3Lab Universal SmartControllers for upstream cell culture and fermentation. Designed to work with stirred-tank glass vessels, single-use vessels and rockers, they enable easy reconfiguration of process platforms.

SIGRIST released the AquaMaster integrated, modular analyzer system for water quality measurements at water treatment plants, featuring up to eight measurement parameters and automated data recording.

KROHNE introduced the SMARTSENS family of two-wire loop powered analytical sensors with integrated transmitter technology, including sensors for pH, oxidation reduction potential and conductivity.

Ocean Options released the EMBED miniature spectrometer for industrial process control and OEM optical measurement systems.

Servomex introduced in May the SERVOTOUGH SpectraScan real-time optical analyzer for continuous analysis of light hydrocarbons C1–C5+. It is available in a 10” rack-mounted general purpose unit and a wall-mounted safe area version.

Applied Instrument Technologies launched the PIONIR XTC fuels blending analyzer, featuring an option for use of third-party chemometric modeling packages.
