Madison, WI 8/3/09—Promega, a supplier of life science reagents and equipment, has purchased Turner BioSystems for an undisclosed amount. Turner BioSystems provides luminometers, fluorometers, photometers and multimode instruments for life science research. “Over the years, innovating with Promega has created productive instrument/reagent systems that scientists highly value. Both companies are eager to optimize this total systems approach for the bench top,” commented Turner BioSystems President Mike Molkelke. Promega CEO Bill Linton stated: “Scientists value quality integrated systems because it frees them up to focus on the other demands in their lab. This purchase allows us to offer these systems for more applications.” The companies currently offer integrated products, such as the Turner BioSystems’ Glomax Luminometer product line optimized for Promega’s bioluminescent assays. Turner BioSystems will maintain its operations in Sunnyvale, California.
