Debiopharm acquired Spinomix’s FibroTrap sample processing technology in June and will develop it for diagnostics applications.

In August, Pressure BioSciences announced a two-year collaboration with the Institute of Bioinformatics in Bangalore, India for proteomics research.

In September, Phenomenex and Tecan announced a collaboration to comarket Phenomenex’s Strata and Strata-X SPE sorbents adapted to Tecan’s Freedom EVO series of robotic workstations. Tecan will provide the instruments and automation support, and Phenomenex will provide the extraction chemistries, and application and method development through its PhenoLogix group.

Product Introductions

Sumitomo Bakelite launched in May the BlotGlyco O-Glycan Sample Preparation Kit for analyzing O-glycans in biological samples. It consist of the O-glycan release reagent, and BlotGlyco glycan purification and labeling beads.

Waters introduced the new Oasis PRiME HLB SPE cartridges and multiwell plates, featuring faster and simpler extraction protocols.

In June, Microfluidics launched the tabletop LM20 Microfluidizer for nanoemulsions and cell disruptions.

Biotage released the EVOLUTE EXPRESS range of polymer-based SPE columns, featuring a three-step protocol.

In July, Biotage introduced the ACT (Anti Cross Talk) Plate Adapter for prevention of well-to-well cross contamination during extract evaporation.

Porvair Sciences launched in June the FFPE ChIP Kit, available in 96-well or spin column formats.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced in June the Thermo Scientific SMART Digest kit for protein digestion, which features an immobilized trypsin design and a three-step process.

Agilent Technologies released in June the AdvanceBio glycan mapping workflow and AdvanceBio oligonucleotide column. The complete consumables workflow is for deglycosylation, 2-AB labeling and HILIC glycan analysis.

Agilent Technologies launched in August the Bond Elut Enhanced Matrix Removal-Lipid sorbent technology for food testing.

In July, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments introduced the Noviplex Duo Plasma Prep Card for preparing two plasma samples from a single application of blood. It collects about 8 µL of plasma.

HTA launched the HT4000E SPE-LC autosampler, which can fully automate all SPE steps.

Hitachi Chemical Diagnostics introduced in September the ExoComplete 96-Well Plate Kit and ExoComplete Tube Kit for exosome collection to mRNA purification, featuring the Exosome Isolation Plate for filtration.
