LGC Genomics and Covaris announced in June a partnership to integrate their respective DNA purification solution and FFPE extraction workflow.

In July, QIAGEN partnered with Exosome Diagnostics to develop and commercialize sample preparation kits for the processing of nucleic acids from exosomes. The exclusive agreement includes the life science and translational medicine markets.

Product Introductions

Bioline launched the ISOLATE II range of nucleic acid purification kits, which are based on filter membrane spin column technology with simple bind-wash-elute steps.

RotaPrep launched in April the handheld Monolyser system, designed for ultra-fast grinding, homogenization and lysis of difficult-to-lyse samples.

Covaris released the FS220-M Processing System for processing samples from microliters to liters. It enables formulation and preparation of drug delivery systems.

AMSBIO introduced the Aptoprecipitation (AP)/Co-aptoprecipitation (Co-AP) aptamer-based protein precipitation kits, in which aptamers are covalently conjugated to magnetic beads. The aptamer resin can be reused.

In May, New England Biolabs released the NEBNext Microbiome DNA Enrichment Kit, utilizing the MBD2-FC protein attached to Protein A–coated magnetic beads.

Organomation introduced in June the Automatic 20 Position Nitrogen Evaporator.

Thermo Fisher Scientific released the Thermo Scientific Pierce Trypsin Protease, MS grade, for protein digestion; the Mass Spec Sample Prep Kit for Cultured Cells; and Abundant Protein Depletion Products spin columns.

Thermo Fisher Scientific added WAX and WCX phases for bioanalysis to its SOLA SPE product line.

MO BIO Laboratories launched the NoviPure Soil Protein Extraction Kit for all soil types.

In June, Promega released the Maxwell CSC Instrument and integrated reagent kits for blood DNA and DNA FFPE for nucleic acid extraction from clinical samples.

Perfinity Biosciences and Shimadzu Scientific Instruments introduced Perfinity NoRA (no reduction/alkylation) trypsin columns, providing a trypsin immobilized enzyme reaction column solution, for use with the Perfinity Workstation and Perfinity Integrated Digestion System.

In July, Agilent launched new features for its 7696A Sample Prep Workbench chromatography sample preparation system, including weighing capabilities, new LC vial racks and a Dilution Wizard.

LGC introduced the automated oKtopure nucleic acid extraction platform, which combines magnetic particle separation technology with liquid handling capabilities.

In August, Phenomenex added a tube format to its Phree Phospholipid Removal sorbent line.
