Product Introductions

Bioo Scientific released the AflaPure Total and AflaPure M1 immunoaffinity columns for the detection of aflatoxin in food and dairy samples in less than 30 minutes.

For use on the Hamilton Microlab STAR workstations, Akonni Biosystems introduced “smart tip” extraction products for rapid gDNA purification of up to 300 µL of fresh or frozen whole blood, and for supporting the extraction and concentration of gDNA for up to 400 µL of saliva collected using the Oragene DISCOVER Collection Kit.

MO BIO Laboratories introduced the PowerMag Seed and PowerPlant Pro-htp 96 Well DNA Isolation Kits.

In March, Metrohm introduced the 909 UV Digester for sample preparation by UV photolysis.

CEM introduced the Discovery SP-D 80 sequential pressurized microwave digestion system with up to 2 g sample capacity.

Source BioScience launched in March nucleic acid purification kits, including plasmid mini preps, PCR purification and gel extraction kits, which are the first products in the new reSource range of products.

Spark introduced in April the XPrezzo automated online SPE system, with operation up to 300 b and an easier-to-use Automated Cartridge Exchange module, which is integrated with the High Pressure Dispenser module.

Porvair Sciences introduced the Chromatrap ChIP assay spin column. Developed in conjunction with the UK’s University of Swansea, it uses solid phase porous polymer functionalized with protein A.

Biotage launched in April the ISOLUTE Myco SPE column for the extraction of mycotoxins from food matrices. It utilizes a polymeric phase in a tabless 3 mL format.

Diagenode introduced the Bioruptor Pico sonication device for chromatin and DNA shearing, designed for volumes of 5 µL up to 2 mL.

EMD Millipore launched in April the Amicon Pro Purification System for protein purification, which combines the bind, wash, elute, buffer exchange and concentration steps into one device, reducing the need for multiple washing and elution steps. In addition to affinity purification, the device supports single-spin diafiltration and depletion with concentration in a single step.

RotaPrep launched the handheld Monolyser system, designed for ultra-fast grinding, homogenization and lysis of difficult-to-lyse samples.
