In August, Pressure Biosciences received a notice from the NASDAQ Stock Market that it was not in compliance with the minimum bid price requirement for continued listing and has until February 2012 to regain compliance.
In September, Sage Science closed a $2.0 million equity-financing round, according to an SEC filing.
Sage Science announced in October that Life Technologies will offer its Pippin Prep DNA size selection system to users of Life’s Ion Torrent PGM sequencing platform.
Spark Holland announced in November the transfer of direct sales and service for its online solid phase extraction (SPE) products and services in Germany to Axel Semrau, which became a Spark Value Added Partner.
Product Introductions
In August, PhyNexus and BAC introduced a complete range of BAC’s CaptureSelect ligands in PhyNexus’s PhyTip column format, which can be used with any major manufacturer’s robotic liquid-handling platform.
Thermo Fisher Scientific launched the Thermo Scientific HyperSep SLE (solid-supported liquid/liquid extraction) chromatographic sample preparation option. It is available in cartridge and 96-well formats. The stationary phase consists of specially treated diatomaceous earth and is available in acidified or basified format.
In September, Thermo Fisher Scientific released the Thermo Scientific Servo and Servo+ ranges of SPE sample preparation solutions for drugs of abuse testing. Dedicated solutions are offered for the analysis of amphetamines, cocaine, opiates, PCP and THC as well as total screening.
In October, Boreal Genomics launched the Aurora nucleic acid purification system, an electrophoretic extraction system that can process up to 5 mL of sample and offers recovery of high molecular weight DNA from 50 kb up to 1 Mb.
Denator released the Stabilizor 2D-GE Extraction Kit for the preparation and extraction of proteins from heat-stabilized tissue. It is for use with the Stabilizor system.
Analytik Jena launched the InnuPure C 96 high-throughput nucleic acid extraction system, which is its first product codeveloped with Cybio. It features magnetic particle separation technology and a 96-well pipetting head with 96 simultaneously operating channels.
In October, RainDance Technologies introduced the ThunderStorm System, a high-throughput targeted sequencing solution that can process up to 96 samples and access up to eight different primer panels. It features HeatWave TS Chips, which were developed in collaboration with Sony and can process two samples each.
Biotage introduced the new RapidTrace+ SPE Workstation, a high-throughput platform for SPE. It is compatible with 1 mL, 3 mL and 6 mL SPE columns and features a five-position rack for 40 mL scintillation vials.
