Sartorius and GE Sign OEM Agreement
GE is offering the technology for scale-up through production volumes. The agreement gives GE access to membrane chromatography technology. This is the second announcement of a collaboration between the competitors. In 2011, the companies cross licensed technology for optical sensors for biomanufacturing (see IBO 9/30/11).
Aubagne, France; Goettingen, Germany; and Chalfont St. Giles, UK 9/1/15—Under an OEM supplier agreement, Sartorius Stedim Biotech (SSB) has agreed to supply GE Healthcare Life Sciences with its Sartobind adsorber purification technology. Sartorius will manufacture the technology for GE, which will market it as ReadyToProcess Adsorber. The membrane adsorber ion exchange technology is used to remove contaminants during production of protein-based drugs. “Our vision is that an integrated manufacturing approach where every stage—from choice of cell-culture media right through to selecting the best approach to purification—has the potential to improve product yields and reduce time to market,” stated Catarina Flyborg, BioProcess Downstream Product leader at GE Healthcare Life Sciences.
