Trajan told IBO that around 320 SGE employees will join Trajan and that it plans to grow the business by focusing on biological, food and environmental analyses and by building upon SGE’s connection to large OEM customers. Around 70% of SGE revenues are from partnerships. Mr. Tomisich was formerly CEO of SGE Analytical. In 2011, Trajan acquired Grale Scientific, a provider of pathology consumables.
Ringwood, Australia 5/22/13—Trajan Scientific and Medical has acquired SGE Analytical Science’s chromatography and liquid handling businesses from Dawes Holding for an undisclosed amount. The purchase includes SGE’s manufacturing operations in Ringwood, Australia, and subsidiaries in the US, Europe and Japan. “Trajan’s goal is to bring together a group of leading companies with a common focus in the areas of biological, environmental and food analysis. SGE is an ideal platform for Trajan, with a global footprint and a depth of capability and infrastructure, servicing the leading companies in analytical science,” stated Trajan CEO Stephen Tomisich. Dawes Holding, owned by Peter Dawes, whose family founded SGE, retained a range of assets, including the ETP electron multiplier business.
