Spectris Acquires NIR Company

According to PANalytical, ASD has approximately 50 employees. PANalytical told IBO: “Both companies have common focuses and client bases and bringing them together will not only enhance their current market positions but will also help growth in other areas.”

Egham, UK 11/26/12—Spectris has agreed to acquire Analytical Spectral Devices (ASD) for $14 million, excluding debt and cash. In addition, a contingent consideration of up to $19 million will be payable based on sales through December 2015. ASD is a provider of NIR instrumentation solutions and application expertise for materials measurement and research. “ASD’s successful NIR solutions for the remote sensing, mining and other industrial markets complement and extend PANalytical’s offering towards scientific and industrial customers and will add a new contiguous product line with portable, handheld, benchtop and online products,” stated Jim Webster, Business Group director at Spectris. ASD will join Spectris’s Materials Analysis segment and will be integrated with PANalytical. The acquisition is expected to be completed before year end.
