WITec announced in August the opening of regional offices in Tokyo, Japan and Barcelona, Spain.

Endeeper, a software and services companies for geological data, signed a long-term representation agreement with Carl Zeiss of Brazil.

Applikon Biotechnology signed a long-term marketing and distribution agreement for Ovizio Imaging Systems’ 4D microscope imaging system, which will be combined with Applikon’s bioreactor systems.

In October, Addtech Life Science’s Immuno Diagnostic subsidiary acquired Finland-based Leica Nilomark, which has annual sales of around €3 million ($4 million).

ASPEX launched in July the EXpressx automated benchtop scanning electron microscope (SEM), featuring OmegaMax EDX (energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) technology and new Perception 2 operating software.

In August, Bruker introduced a PeakForce Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy mode for its atomic force microscopes (AFM) to provide quantitative nanomechanical data.

Bruker launched the Photoconductive Atomic Force Microscopy mode for its Dimension Icon AFM platform.

Q-Sense released the Omega Auto QCM-D (quartz crystal microbalance system with dissipation monitoring) system for real-time surface analysis.

FEI launched the Helios 450 HP and 1200HP NanoLab DualBeam transmission electron microscopes in August.

FEI introduced in November the low cost, benchtop, SEM-based MLA EXpress automated mineralogy analyzer. Shipments will begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Nanosurf introduced the NaioAFM, which combines a compact AFM and a controller in a single device.

Carl Zeiss released in September the ORION NanoFab helium ion microscope, the first multi-ion-beam tool based on Gas Field Ion Source technology.

Scientifica released its modular Multiphoton Imaging System for the imaging of live tissues.

Olympus launched in October the FluoView FV1200 Biological Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope and the Fluoview FV1200MPE Multi Photon Laser Scanning Microscope.

Nikon Instruments introduced its third-generation Perfect Focus System, consisting of two models.

Andor Technology released the Revolution WD spinning disk confocal solution.
