TA Instruments Buys Company
This acquisition is a move by TA to expand its participation in industrial end-markets. In addition, TA will now be offering hardness and tensile testing instruments, marking its entry into the physical testing segment of the analytical instrument market.
New Castle, DE 9/30/13—TA Instruments, a Waters company, has acquired German firm Scarabaeus Mess- und Produktionstechnik for an undisclosed amount. Scarabaeus manufactures instrumentation and software for physical property measurements of rubber and rubber processing. “This market is a natural fit for TA Instruments. We have existing expertise and a large customer base using thermal analysis and rheology among rubber producers and manufacturers,” stated TA Instruments President Terry Kelly. Scarabaeus’s products include the Mooney Viscometer, Moving Die Rheometer, Rubber Process Analyzer, and automated density and hardness testers. Waters stated that many of instruments feature automation and software, making them useful in manufacturing and process environments.
