Teledyne Buys CETAC

CETAC has approximately 120 employees, according to a Teledyne spokesperson. CETAC headquarters will remain in Omaha, Nebraska. The business will be renamed Teledyne CETAC and join Teledyne Instruments’ other laboratory instrument businesses, which include Teledyne Leeman, Teldyne Isco and Teledyne Tekmar.

Thousand Oaks, CA 8/19/13; Thousand Oaks, CA 8/30/13—Teledyne Technologies’ Teledyne Instruments subsidiary has agreed to acquire the assets of SD Acquisition, better known as CETAC Technologies, for an undisclosed amount. CETAC supplies automated sample introduction equipment for elemental and chemical analysis systems, sample preparation devices for trace elemental analysis, and mercury analysis systems. “CETAC’s laboratory automation and instruments for elemental spectroscopy fit well with Teledyne’s existing environmental instrumentation product lines covering organic compound sample preparation and other laboratory applications,” stated Teledyne Technologies Chairman, President and CEO Robert Mehrabian. “Furthermore, the acquisition enhances Teledyne’s strong existing position in specialty mercury analyzers.” The deal closed on August 30.
