The company’s markets include microbiology, life science and clinical labs. The acquisition adds to Thermo’s expertise in these markets and its European manufacturing footprint.

Rochester, NY 5/18/11; London, UK 5/18/11—Thermo Fisher Scientific has acquired Sterilin, a provider of consumable products for microbiology, life science and clinical laboratories, from Nova Capital Management for an undisclosed amount. Based in South Wales, UK, with 270 employees, Sterilin generated 2010 revenues of $35 million. “The acquisition of Sterilin allows us to expand our sample collection portfolio; we can now provide a broader range of high-quality products for any microbiological, clinical and general life science workflow, from sample collection and processing through to analysis,” stated Chuck Kummeth, president of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s laboratory consumables business. Sterilin will join Thermo’s Lab Products and Services segment.
