Thermo Buys LC Company

The acquisition increases Thermo’s stake in the nanoflow LC market. Proxeon’s Easy-nLC and Easy-nLC II features a split-free design and provides 2D capability. In November 2009, Proxeon stated that it has shipped more than 200 Easy-nLC systems.

Waltham, MA 4/15/10—Thermo Fisher Scientific has acquired Proxeon A/S, a supplier of products for proteomics analysis, including nanoflow LC systems, columns, ion sources and bioinformatics software. In 2009, Proxeon generated revenues of $10 million. The company is headquartered in Odense, Denmark, and has nearly 40 employees. “By offering a high-performance solution that addresses the need for simplified operation, we can meet the increasing demand for LC/MS in proteomics applications,” stated Thermo Fisher Scientific President and CEO Marc N. Casper. Proxeon will join Thermo’s Analytical Technologies Segment. The acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on 2010 financial results.
