Thermo Fisher Adds to Chromatography Line
Thermo’s acquisition provides the company with a larger selection of products for the valuable instrument aftermarket and expands its capabilities in Europe, whose market for life science research products is growing faster than that of the US.
Waltham, MA 12/20/07—Thermo Fisher Scientific has purchased La-Pha-Pack, a provider of chromatography consumables and accessories. Based in Langerwehe, Germany, La-Pha-Pack has revenues of approximately $25 million. “This acquisition will significantly strengthen our chromatography offering in Europe by complementing our existing specialty brand, Chromacol, which is manufactured in the UK,” said Thermo Fisher Scientific President and CEO Marijn E. Dekkers. “Additionally, we expect to take advantage of La-Pha-Pack’s highly automated manufacturing and assembly processes to improve our production capabilities and deliver high-quality consumable products to customers more efficiently than ever before.” La-Pha-Pack will join Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Laboratory Products and Services Segment.
