Thermo Purchases FIBERLite

The advantages of FIBERLite rotors include shorter runs and less wear. The purchase will add an important competitive advantage for Thermo in the research centrifuge market. Thermo’s major competitors in the market is Beckman Coulter, which is a partner of FIBERLite.

Waltham, MA 7/25/08—Thermo Fisher Scientific has acquired FIBERLite Centrifuge, a supplier of carbon fiber centrifuge rotors. FIBERLite had 2007 revenues of approximately $7 million. “We have been offering FIBERLite rotors as an alternative to aluminum and titanium rotors in our Thermo Scientific laboratory centrifuges for several years, and we have seen customer demand for the technology continue to grow,” commented Marijn E. Dekkers, president and CEO of Thermo Fisher Scientific. FIBERLite will join Thermo’s Laboratory Products and Services Segment.
