Tute Genomics Buys Knome
Information in Tute’s database from various sources includes clinical annotations, allele frequencies, amino acid and protein substitutions, and conservation and evolutionary scores. The database also calculates the likelihood that a variant will be associated with a Mendelian phenotype.
Provo, UT 11/2/15—Sequencing informatics company Tute Genomics has acquired human-genome interpretation firm Knome for an undisclosed amount. Knome’s knoSYS platform is used by research and clinical labs for analyzing, annotating and interpreting NGS data. The platform has processed thousands of genomes and exomes, and can store and share them as well as panels and variants. “The result is a wealth of technology assets that are well poised to tackle the bioinformatics challenges faced by health care, such as rapidly processing raw genome sequencing data, performing clinical interpretation of the data and generating actionable clinical reports,” stated Reid Robison, MD, CEO of Tute. Using data from more than 200 sources, Tute has compiled a database of functional annotations for human SNVs. The company will integrate its cloud-based informatics platform with Knome’s technology.
