United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates plans to establish a government body to regulate food and pharmaceutical standards. The FDA will serve as the model for the body. The country follows Saudi Arabia as the second nation in the region to create such an agency. The agency will work closely with the country’s National Pharmaco-vigilance Center, plans for which were announced earlier this year, for drug regulations. Currently, food products are regulated by municipalities’ departments.
