Palo Alto, CA 11/5/07—Varian has acquired Analogix, a developer of flash chromatography instruments and consumables, for $11 million in cash, plus assumed net debt. Future price payments could total $4 million over three years depending on milestones and financial performance. “The acquisition of Analogix is strategic to the advancement of Varian’s goal to grow applications-based consumables products and to further broaden its product offering to the pharmaceutical industry,” stated Garry Rogerson, president and CEO of Varian. Analogix’s headquarters will remain in Burlington, Wisconsin, and its president Nick Demarco will continue to run the business. John Mills, Varian Scientific Instruments’ vice president of Marketing, told IBO that “Varian now offers a full range of prep instruments and consumables ranging from flash through high-performance semi-prep, to high-performance benchtop prep, on to large-scale prep systems known as ‘skids.’”
