Verder Scientific Buys Metallographic Company

ATM’s products are used to prepare metal or compound-material samples for analysis usually by microscopy through cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing and etching. Verder Scientific’s annual revenues total €150 million ($200 million = €0.75 = $1), according to its website.

Vleuten, the Netherlands 12/16/15—Verder Scientific has acquired ATM, a manufacturer of systems for metallographic applications. ATM has 150 employees. “With the acquisition of ATM, the Verder Scientific Division will become the market leader for mechanical sample preparation of solids,” commented Dr. Jürgen Pankratz, director of Verder Scientific. Verder also stated that the acquisition complements its RETSCH brand of products. ATM will remain in Mammelzen, Germany.
