VWR Acquires Hichrom
According to a VWR SEC filing, Hichrom has annual sales of $15 million. This is VWR’s second acquisition this year (see IBO 2/15/15). The company has spent around $40 million on acquisitions this year, according to its quarterly conference call.
Radnor, PA 5/5/15—VWR has acquired Hichrom, a manufacturer and distributor of HPLC columns and consumables, for an undisclosed amount. “Known for its quality, excellence and technical expertise, Hichrom is an investment that will help expand our portfolio and manufacturing capabilities to a specialized and growing industry,” commented Peter Schuele, senior vice president and president, EMEA and Asia-Pacific Lab and Distribution Services, at VWR. Based in the UK, Hichrom distributes the Ace, Partisil, Patisphere and Ultrasphere brands of HPLC and UHPLC columns. For manufacturing, it is well known for its knowledge and capabilities in silica bonding, silane chemistry and column packing.
