Waters Acquires Software Provider
Waters told IBO: “The recent purchase of Blue Reference allows Waters to extend laboratory data management and documentation by offering a scientifically relevant searching capability so that scientists can make better use of information that is spread across an organization (chemical structures, chromatograms, reports, etc.).”
Washington, DC 8/3/12—Waters disclosed in its quarterly filing with the SEC that it has acquired software firm Blue Reference for $14 million in cash. Blue Reference develops and distributes software products for real-time mining of multiple-application scientific databases. The filing stated: “The Company will integrate the Blue Reference technology into the current and future software product platforms to further differentiate and increase software-offering revenues by providing customers with a more efficient scientific information assessment process, where there is an ongoing need for immediacy and interactivity of multiple scientific databases.”
