Waters Names New CEO
Mr. O’Connell has been with Medtronic for 21 years. His background with a medical device company should position Waters well as it continues to expand its clinical and diagnostics offerings. He has an MBA from Harvard University. Mr. Berthiaume announced his intention to retire two years ago (see IBO 3/31/13). He has been CEO since 2004.
Milford, MA 6/25/15—Waters has appointed Christopher J. O’Connell as president, CEO and a member of the Board, effective September 2015. Most recently, he served as president of the Restorative Therapies Group at Medtronic. Current CEO Douglas A. Berthiaume will continue to serve as chairman. “From the outset, Waters’s Board of Directors focused on identifying a new CEO whose experience best supports the continuation of Waters’s culture, business strategies and performance drivers,” stated Thomas P. Salice, lead director for Waters. The other leadership positions will remain in place.
