Wilks Enterprise Sold

Chelmsford, MA 10/2/13—Spectro Inc., a developer of instrumentation and software for the industrial performance fluids market, has acquired Wilks Enterprise for an undisclosed amount. Wilks specializes in the development and manufacture of mid-IR application-specific analyzers that are used for biofuel, petrochemical, environmental, quality control, manufacturing and ambient air monitoring measurements. “Wilks has built an excellent position and reputation in its core markets with portable, rugged and easy to operate instruments,” commented Spectro President and CEO Brian Mitchell. “Combining this with Spectro’s extended resources and channel reach gives us optimism in projecting significant future growth from the Wilks platform.”

Founded in 1995, Wilks is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut and has 11 full-time employees. Discussing how Wilks will complement Spectro Inc., Mr. Mitchell told IBO, “Spectro maintains a global leadership position in analyzers focused on the fuel, fuel-oil, oil and lubrication testing markets, while Wilks holds a similar position in the oil-in-water environmental compliance testing and biofuels blending markets.”
