A New Gas Chromatography-Time of Flight Mass Spectrometer Featuring the World’s Highest Sensitivity

JEOL Ltd. (Gon’emon Kurihara, President) announced a new gas chromatography-time of flight mass spectrometer, JMS-T100GCV, as a successor of the JMS-T100GC, to be distributed on January 5, 2009. The new GC-TOF mass spectrometer is superior in performance, featuring the worlds’ highest sensitivity level and a wider mass range. It is also substantially improved in ease of operation, thanks to additional functions such as tuning assistant and EI/FI shared ion source (option). JEOL plans to promote the new MS system to users in fields of petroleum chemistry, high polymer chemistry, and materials chemistry.

[Features]

Highest sensitivity level in the world and wider mass range

Effective for quantitative analysis of unknown substances including samples having a high boiling point.

Tuning assistant

Significantly simplifies the daily tuning procedure, enhancing ease of operation.

A single ion source for EI/FI – the first in the world

A single ion source is used for both EI and FI ionization methods. The ion source need not be exchanged. FI, a milder ionization method, is for observation of molecular ions to estimate the molecular formula, while EI is for observation of fragment ions to estimate the structure. Combining EI and FI has enhanced the effectiveness of the MS system, enabling accurate, superior qualitative analysis.
