Accelerated Technology Laboratories (ATL) and Quality Systems International (QSI) Announce Merger, Re-branding to Confience, and Appointment of New CEO

Menlo Park, CA – Accelerated Technology Laboratories (ATL) and Quality Systems International (QSI) today announce a merger between the two businesses, which was facilitated by the financial backing of STG. The new entity will be re-branded as Confience, drawing on root words “confido,” or trust, a core value of the company, and “science,” a core purpose of its platform. Together, the businesses will form an innovative new player in the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) space. This merger marks a significant milestone in the growth and development of the companies, and puts Confience in a strong position to offer more automated and intuitive solutions to ATL and QSI’s existing laboratory and quality team customers, as well as new customers that will see the impact of investment in both product and service.

New leadership appointed; greater investment in product

Simultaneously, Confience announced the appointment of Patrick Quinlan as Chief Executive Officer. Patrick brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role, having demonstrated a successful track record in guiding companies through periods of growth and transformation, most recently at Convercent, an ethics and compliance software company which was acquired by OneTrust in 2021. “I look forward to uniting the ATL and QSI teams with their depth of experience and skill in this industry,” said Patrick. “We all believe passionately in the mission of delivering the most effective products and services to our customers so they can use accurate, trustworthy data to become operationally optimized and empower their own customers to make trusted products. We’ll take the combined wisdom of both teams and augment their impact on the market with an elevated, team-driven culture and greater investment in people, process, and product.”

In addition to the merger, STG’s experience in helping build software companies with a focus on customer value will position Confience to accelerate product development and market reach. “We believe strongly in the opportunity to invest in innovation within the LIMS space,” said Seth Peck, Principal at STG. “We look forward to helping Confience deliver a modern and increasingly feature-rich offering to customers over time.”

Along with the appointment of Patrick Quinlan, Confience will continue to add experienced executives to the team as it completes an ongoing leadership succession process from the founders of both ATL and QSI.

Driving innovation in the LIMS space

The LIMS space provides solutions that help laboratory and quality managers gather, analyze, and report data more accurately and efficiently, leading to better, faster, and safer outcomes that their customers and stakeholders can trust. By providing software that intuitively organizes data and automates workflows, Confience will empower laboratory and quality managers to focus on outcomes that serve their customers, rather than manual and tedious data input tasks.

“The QSI team takes pride in what we’ve built so far,” said Wayne Verost, President and Co-founder of QSI. “This investment and unification with ATL, along with our transformation as a team into Confience, gives us an opportunity to streamline processes and scale our impact. We look forward to being part of the growth of Confience going forward.”
